Day 1: LJUBLJANA Arrival transfer from airport to hotel. Accommodation. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 2: LJUBLJANA – BLED – BOHINJ (NATIONAL PARK TRIGLAV) – BLED Breakfast and be ready for the city tour of Ljubljana, Slovenian capital city, which you can explore on foot. Sightseeing through the old city center, characterized by a vast antique and medieval heritage with buildings touched by the Renaissance, Baroque and Art influences. The tour will include: the Prešeren Square, the Cathedral, the Vodnik Square, the Seminary Palace, the Dragon Bridge, the Bishop’s Palace, the Town Hall, the Town Square, the Academy of Science and Art, the French Revolution Square. World famous architect Jože Plečnik (born in Ljubljana in 1872) marked the city with his designs for many of these monuments and buildings. In the evening we suggest a stroll along the Ljubljanica river and a drink in one of the local caffes or restaurants. Dinner on your own. Accommodation. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 3: BLED – KOBARID (SOCA VALLEY) – NOVA GORICA Breakfast and drive to Kobarid over the highest mountain road to Vrsic pass (at 1611 m altitude) where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the trenta Valley and the town of Bovec. Drive along the emerald green Soca river vally to Kobarid. You will visit the excellent museum of WW I (American writer Ernest Hemingway described it in his novel about WW I, A farewell to Arms), which is devoted almost entirely to the Soca front and was awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 1993. Your next stop will be at the Kostanjevica monastery, where we’ll visit its worlds famous library and monastery’s church. Here lies the last member of the French royal family of the Bourbons, Charles X. Then proceed to the Nova Gorica a town build after WW 2, today known as Slovenian “Las Vegas”. Day 4: NOVA GORICA – LIPICA – POSTOJNA CAVE – LJUBLJANA Breakfast and depature to the Lipica Stud Farm, founded in 1580. It was the world’s first stud farm to breed Lipizzaner horses. Today is breeds exclusively horses of this noble breed and boasts a world famous classical riging school. Then you will drive to Postojna Cave, the marvellous underground world. You will ride with the electrical train through the 2 million years old and 27km long system of subterranean caves, which is considered to be one of the most easily accessible networks of this type in the world. A guided walk through a series of cave halls with drop stones, pillars and translucent curtains. Afterwards transfer to Ljubljana and overnight. Meals: B |
Day 5: LJUBLJANA – PLITVICE LAKES – VODICE Breakfast and departure to Croatia, Plitvice, where the most beautiful and famous Croatian National Park (UNESCO) is located. The characteristic of this park are 16 terraced small lakes with crystal clear water, inter-connected by waterfalls. The sediment of karst creates a shape called ’’brade’’, and it also appears in the caves under the waterfalls. The difference in height between two lakes is created this way (the total height difference between the most upper lake and the most bottom is 134m), and it is also the number of waterfalls (92) that add up to the uniqueness of these lakes. Visiting National Park Plitvice by panoramic smal train, boat and on foot. We recommended comfortable footwear and camera to capture this unique natural beauty. Afternoon proceed to the small, charming town of Vodice, located in the northern part of Dalmatia. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 6: VODICE – SIBENIK – KRKA NATIONAL PARK – VODICE After breakfast drive to Šibenik and visit famous Gothic-Reneissance Cathedral of St.James from the 16 century, which is recorded in the UNESCO register. It is not only famous for its beauty, but also for its original construction and project made by Juraj Dalmatinac. Afterwards, drive to National Park Krka with unique phenomenon in Europe. Krka River is the most representative river of Croatian Karst, it makes many lakes, waterfalls and streams on its way to the sea. The small island Visovac with Franciscan monastery, is located between the waterfall Roški Slap and the travertine barrier Skradinski Buk. Sightseeing of National Park Krka and its waterfalls will be done on foot, followed by a boat ride to the town of Skradin (25min). Afternon return to hotel in Vodice and overnight. Meals: B |
Day 7: VODICE – TROGIR – SPLIT – DUBROVNIK After breakfast departure to Trogir with its condensed contours, situated on a small island seems to be a castle on the water with the prisms of its towers. Afterwards drive to extraordinary town of Split.It is one of the few melting pots for the traditions from the Western, Antique and Cristian worlds which has greatly enriched the cultural life of the town and its people. Diocletian’s Palace is recorded in the UNECO register of monuments of universal importance. Afterwards proceed to Dubrovnik along Makarska Riviera. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 8: DUBROVNIK Morning after breakfast will be spent discovering the secrets and beauties of Dubrovnik, which is recorded on the list of UNESCO. The walls of Dubrovnik girdle a perfectly preserved complex of public and private, sacral and secular buildings representing all periods of the city’s history, beginning with its founding in the 7th century. Particular mention should be made of the city’s main street Stradun, the Rector’s Palace, the church of St. Vlaho, the Cathedral, three large monasteries and a City Hall. The Republic of Dubrovnik was the centre of political and territorial entity, and was proud of its culture, its achievements in commerce and especially of its freedom, preserved so many centuries. Afternoon free for relax, swimming or shopping. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 9: DUBROVNIK – KORCULA – OREBIC – DUBROVNIK After breakfast full day excursion to Island Korcula, the hometown of Marco Polo. Drive to the town of Orebic on Peljesac peninsula, where the sunny climate ensures perfect conditions for the wine growers. The picturesque hill sides and valleys of Peljesac are covered in vineyards. In Orebic embarking on the boat to Island Korcula. The Island of Korcula holds a privileged position among the Croatian island. Here you find more legends, tales and monuments then anywhere else. Being famous stonemasons, shipbuilders and seafarers the people of Korcula left their marks all over the world, but they saved their best works of their own city. After sightseeing lunch. Return to Orebic by boat. On the return trip to Dubrovnik a stop will be made in one of the well known wine cellars of the Peljesac peninsula to sample some of the excellent local wine. Return back to Dubrovnik. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
