Breakfast and departure to visit Venice. Get your own mask and experience what Venice was in the 18th century! Wander among the narrow streets of Venice and discover beautifully costumed mask-wearing people roaming and posing, enjoy the performances of street artists entertaining Carnival’s guests and take part to the numerous parades, parties, balls that the city offers during these days. St Mark’s Square is the fulcrum of Carnival activities, and that’s where you’ll find the most extraordinary costumes, a spectacular backdrop for your pictures. Begin your tour of Venice in St. Mark’s Square. Home to the magnificent St. Mark’s Basilica, Bell Tower and Doge’s Palace, this is the biggest piazza (public square) in Venice. Admire then St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the most visited landmarks in Venice. You will learn why it’s called “the Church of Gold”. Just a few minutes away from St. Mark’s Square is the Rialto Bridge, as much a symbol of Venice as St. Mark’s Basilica. Initially built from old boats, the unstable bridge was rebuilt in 1500. On one side of the bridge is the Rialto Market in the Rialto neighborhood, a place that’s been satisfying appetites for seven centuries. The oldest of the four bridges that span the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge features a 24-foot tall arch. Providing access to the district, the Rialto Bridge enables Venetians to carry on their business in the area. Lunch on your own to taste local food. In the afternoon ride across the Venetian Lagoon to the colorful island of Murano to get an inside peek into the world-famous glass-blowing factories of this island. Get a glass making demonstration from a master craftsman, and enjoy time to browse the factory showroom featuring finished works of art. Continue to Burano, the bustling island famous for its colorful houses and the hand-crafted lace work, true works of art made of lace that can be purchased at local shops or street stalls. During the break of about 35 minutes, you can explore the island on your own. Afterwards reach finally Torcello, the largest center in the Venetian Lagoon before the birth of the Republic of Venice, will be the last stop of this fascinating Venice boat tour. This mystical island combines intense spirituality with many examples of great historical and artistic importance, such as the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the legendary Devil’s Bridge and Attila’s throne.
