SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1: MUNICH (GERMAN BEER TRADITION)
Arrival, transfer from airport to hotel. Start the city tour at Marienplatz Square, cultural center of the city, where you will join the crowds watching the famous glockenspiel clock dating back to 1908 with its colorful mechanical figures dancing the top of the hour. Continue to the imposing Frauenkirche and Englischer Garten (English Garden). Observe the countless museums, galleries, palaces and historic monuments including the Koenigsplatz and the monument lined Ludwig Strasse. In the evening enjoy a dinner in a typical Bavarian restaurant with local Beer Tasting. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: MUNICH – NEUSCHWANSTEIN – OBERAMMERGAU – ETTAL (CHEESE FACTORY) – MUNICH
Breakfast and departure to the worldwide famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Once arrived, enjoy a special tour guide of Germany’s fairy-tale castle, Schloss Neuschwanstein, in Schwangau. Though the 19th-century castle’s fantastic silhouette has made it famous, this creation is more opera set than piece of history, although the interior was never completed. A tour reveals why the king of Bavaria who built it earned the nickname “Mad” King Ludwig. Continue then to Oberammergau and discover the passion play theater. Lunch at a local restaurant to taste Bavarian specialties. Continue to Ettal monastery, whose large, castle-like grounds are the result of a long historical development and demonstrates one of the main concerns of a Benedictine Abbey. An independent religious community which produces everything needed for life and thus has all the important workshops and undertakings, if possible within the confines of the monastery. After that, learn more about German cheese. Around 3,000 liters (793 gallons) of milk are used every day at the Schaukäserei Ettal cheese factory in the Ammergau Alps. The milk is provided by 36 dairy farmers in the region who, together with the Ettal Abbey, established their own cooperative. A visit to the Schaukäserei Ettal is sure to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. In the late afternoon participate to a fantastic beer seminar. Back to Munich and dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 3: MUNICH – DANUBE GORGE – WELTENBURG MONASTERY (GERMAN BREWERY) – NUREMBERG (BEER & WHISKY TASTING)
Breakfast and departure to Nuremberg via the Danube Gorge. Enjoy a boat trip on the Danube to Weltenburg Monastery with its brewery. Take part to the visit to the Oldest Monastic Brewery in the World, Weltenburg Abbey. Continue to Nuremberg and lunch at a local restaurant. Nuremberg is a historically significant city in Germany and a major hub for Bavarian culture. Visitors to the city will discover medieval streets, World War II sites and monuments from the Holy Roman Empire. There is also plenty of excellent food and beer to be sampled. Continue then to the Alstadthof, a brewery restaurant with a historic labyrinth system underneath the center of Nuremberg. In the brewery not only beer but also Whisky is produced, which you can taste during dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 4: NUREMBERG – WÜRZBURG (WINE CELLARS)
Breakfast and departure to Würzburg. Starting at Würzburg’s landmark, Marienberg Fortress, enjoy a walking tour to experience the vast fortress complex, the Marienkirche, a round church that is one of the oldest churches in Germany, and the Renaissance temple above a 104 meter deep well. The Fürstengarten (open from April through October) offers one of the best panoramic views of the town below. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards you stroll through the Old Town of Würzburg and explore a number of great sights: The Gothic Marienkapelle and its sandstone sculptures by Tilman Riemenschneider, the Falkenhaus and its magnificent Rococo façade, the Romanesque Kiliansdom and the historical town hall. Visit then the Würzburg Residence – a fine sample of Baroque architecture and interesting palace. In the late afternoon appreciate a wine cellar tour and wine tasting in one of the famous and old vineries “Bürgerspital” and “Juliusspital”. Dinne at a local restaurant to taste the typical food of the city. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 5: WÜRZBURG – FRANCONIAN WINE REGION (VINERY VISIT & WINE TASTING) – WÜRZBURG
Breakfast and departure to the Franconian Wine Region. Würzburg and Wine are inextricably intertwined. Wine in all its varieties rules this city. Exquisite Franconian wines are the claim to fame of the Franconian wine country since the grapes grow especially well in this area where the Main River makes a loop. The winemaking plus a fascinating cultural environment provide something everybody can take pleasure in. Explore the region and city of Schweinfurt, and wine towns and villages as like Sommerhausen, Volkach and Iphofen. Visit to a private vinery and the Veitshöchheim Palace with its gardens. Lunch at a local restaurant during the tour. Back to Würzburg, dinner at your hotel and overnight.

Day 6: WÜRZBURG – BAMBERG – LEIPZIG
Breakfast and departure to Bamberg. Admire its old town with its colorfulness, picturesque and lively streets. In fact, city of Bamberg is so unique, it has been on UNESCO World Heritage list ever since 1993. When walking around the old town, you will be able to see different architecture styles, dating between 11th and 19th century. Lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of Bamberg, where smoked beer is their specialty. Continue then to Leipzig, the “new Berlin”. Landmarks are scattered across the city center, monuments honor Germany’s greatest poets and composers, and in the trendy quarters of Connewitz and Plagwitz contemporary art galleries, bars and concept stores are abundant. Explore the old city and visit its local gardens together with the museum of German urban Gardening. Dinner at a local restaurant to taste local food and overnight.

Day 7: LEIPZIG – MEISSEN (BUFFALO FARM)
Breakfast and departure to Meissen. The city is dominated by Albrechtsburg Castle and the cathedral. It’s a picturesque place with medieval alleys and town squares. Meissen is called the cradle of Saxony and it’s a town of porcelain and wine. The first porcelain manufacture in Europe began here in 1710 and has continued ever since. Every year thousands of visitors watch the production and manufacture of this world famous porcelain. Visit to Meissen Porcelain factory followed by a special workshop on tea, coffee and hot chocolate – the three exotic hot beverages at Meissen. Lunch at a local restaurant to taste local food. In the afternoon visit a buffalo farm near Leipzig, where water buffalos and chicken are kept in a natural surrounding. Back to Meissen and dinner at a wine cooperative restaurant with local wine tasting. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 8: MEISSEN – DRESDEN (STOLLEN WORKSHOP)
Breakfast and departure to Dresden. Walk from the world famous Zwinger Palace along the Semper Opera House passing by the Cathedral and the Dresden Residential Palace. Learn more about the historic background of the city. Admire the proud of this city, the reconstructed Frauenkirche, a symbol of reconciliation and peace in the world. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon take part to a “Stollen workshop” in a traditional bakery – learn how the original Dresden Stollen is made. Enjoy then a local wine tasting in a private vineyard overlooking the Elbe River and the city of Dresden. Train to Moritzburg (Hunting Lodge) and visit to Wackerbarth Palace (state wine estate with wine and sparkling wine production). Back to your hotel for dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 9: DRESDEN – SPREEWALD FOREST – BERLIN
Breakfast and departure to the Spreewald Forest, home of the Sorbs – a national minority with a lively culture and local specialties, such as pickled gherkins and smoked fish. The UNESCO Spreewald Biosphere Reserve preserves a unique habitat for numerous species of animals and plants – and is therefore the perfect location for all nature-lovers who wish to enjoy the Spreewald. The traditional boats still shape the everyday lives of many Spreewald residents. For a long time it was the only means of transport, today the boats are comfortably equipped. Enjoy the visit to one of the local producers. The tour will include a punting boat tour, the visit of Burg city and a traditional local snack of pickles, bread and lard. Proceed to Berlin, dinner at your hotel and overnight.

Day 10: BERLIN
Breakfast and start your Berlin guided tour with a view of the main highlights. Observe the Brandenburg Gate, one of the most famous monument of Berlin, marking the beginning of the road from Berlin to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel and a symbol of unity and Peace after the destruction of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Continue to the memorial of the Jews murdered in Europe. Then take a look to the Reichstag building, the German parliament. Walk along historic avenues such as Unter den Linden and admire Berlin’s Cathedral, passing by the Museum Island and reaching the Television Tower and Alexanderplatz. Finally, you will enjoy the special view of Berlin from above by climbing the TV tower. With 368 meters the TV Tower is the highest open building in Europe and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Berlin. Over 1 million people visit the TV Tower at Alexanderplatz every year. Lunch during the day at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon free time for individual visits and shopping. Dinner at a local restaurant to taste the typical food of German capital city. Overnight at your hotel.
