SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1: COPENHAGEN Arrival transfer from the airport to the hotel. Accommodation. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 2: COPENHAGEN Breakfast at the hotel and visit to the spectacular Copenhagen accompanied by a guide. Copenhagen is a small fishing village that became the capital of Denmark. The city is known as the cultural capital, center for design and experimentation and the land of fairy tales. This hike begins at world-famous Nyhavn, the “new port” that remains popular with locals who, as time permits, will occupy numerous outdoor bars and restaurants along the canal. Here the famous Danish writer Andersen wrote his first fairy tale in house number 20 in 1835, where he lived and ended his life. Then we reach the Royal Opera and the Royal Palace of Amalienborg. Finally we reach the famous statue of the little mermaid near Kastellet. Free lunch. Afternoon free time in Copenhagen. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 3: KOPENHAGEN – AARHUS Breakfast at the hotel and departure by bus to Odden. Once there, get on the ferry to Aarhus, one of Denmark’s oldest cities. Free lunch. Free time in beautiful Aarhus. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 4: AARHUS Breakfast and visit to Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, accompanied by a local guide. Aarhus is a large city that has been the center of Jutland’s business, food and culture for centuries. We will learn about the old legends, great city stories and cultural facts that make Aarhus the city it is today. Free lunch. Free time in the afternoon for individual visits and shopping. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 5: AARHUS – SILKEBORG – MIDDELFALT Breakfast and departure via Silkeborg (Sky Mountain, Himmerlbjerget) to the Jelling Viking Monument, which is recognized as the best Viking monument in Europe and sponsored by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is the year 965. Viking king Harald Bluetooth says goodbye to the Nordic pantheon and welcomes Christianity. He carved this message into a large rune stone in the town of Jelling near the rune stone that had been built a few years earlier by his father, King Gorm the Elder. After the visit transfer to Middelfalt. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 6: MIDDELFALT – ODENSE – KØGE Breakfast and transfer to Odense, Denmark’s third largest city and birthplace of the Danish writer Christian Andersen. Free lunch. Free time on the first afternoon before leaving town and arriving in Køge. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
Day 7: KØGE – KOPENHAGEN Breakfast and free time in Køge. In the afternoon transfer to Copenhagen and free time in the city for shopping and individual visits. Dinner on your own. Overnight. Meals: B |
